How do you price a local move in Greater Orlando, hourly or flat?
Either works. A standard two-mover crew with a 26-ft truck runs $155/hr in our market, a three-mover crew $210/hr, and a four-mover $270/hr, with blankets, dollies, walk-boards and hurricane-rated straps already in the rate. If you would rather know the figure up front, we also quote flat bands by home size — for example a one-bedroom lands at $740 to $1,080 and a three-bedroom at $2,020 to $3,000 — so you can pick whichever style of pricing feels safer for your specific move.
Is there a deposit, and how much?
Yes. A $160 deposit holds your date on the Top calendar and is applied straight to your final total rather than tacked on as a separate fee. Until that deposit lands, the slot is open to anyone, so for busy summer hurricane-season weekends, the snowbird shoulder months in April and October, and the end of any month, it is worth reserving early.
Are you actually licensed to move within Florida and across state lines?
Yes — Top Moving is a fully licensed and insured Florida moving company in Kissimmee, with our own trucks and uniformed W-2 crews, FDACS IM number on file for intrastate household goods, plus our own USDOT and MC authority for the interstate work. What happens if a hurricane is forecast for our move date?
We watch the National Hurricane Center cone the way you watch your phone. From June through November every Top quote includes a no-fee reschedule clause for a named-storm cone that touches Osceola County in the 72 hours around your date. We will reach out two or three days ahead if the forecast is sliding our way, and reset the slot for an open day in the next week — your deposit follows the booking.
Why does the truck leave so early in the summer?
Because Florida thunderstorms arrive almost on a schedule. From June through September the daily cell builds over Lake Tohopekaliga by about 3pm, and it does not care about your move. We start at 6am from the Kissimmee yard, which puts the ramp up and the truck rolling before the heat index climbs through the 90s and before the afternoon storm hits US-192. Winter mornings start later — usually 8am — when the schedule is less weather-driven.
How does insurance and valuation work on a Top move?
Every shipment includes released-value protection at $0.60 per pound at no additional charge — that is the federal baseline, the same standard every legitimate mover honors. On top of that, we carry cargo coverage up to $1,000,000 per shipment, and you may upgrade to full-value protection if you want damage or loss covered at actual replacement worth instead of by weight. Claims must be reported within 9 months under federal rules. Janelle walks both options before you sign.
For a long-haul lane, does the same crew ride from origin to destination?
Yes. Diego himself drives the bigger long-haul lanes, and Jamal Bishop runs the northern routes up to Charlotte and Atlanta with the same Top crew that loaded your truck on Vine Street. Your shipment is not transferred to a second carrier in a warehouse, it does not sit waiting for a partner truck, and the names on the unload at the other end are the names from the load in Kissimmee.
Can Top handle a Disney-corridor vacation home turnover?
That is half our calendar. Champions Gate, Reunion, Celebration, Solara and the Lake Buena Vista corridor all have HOA truck windows, gated entry rules, and tight turnover days between Saturday checkout and Sunday check-in. Hector has run hundreds of these and knows which guard shacks need a heads-up the day before, where the back-gate access is, and how to clear an emptied vacation rental and stage the next family's move-in before the cleaning crew arrives.
Can you handle a piano, gun safe, or other heavy specialty piece?
Yes. Uprights, baby grands, slate pool tables, gun safes, smokers, oversized statuary — all of it goes through Hector's crew with the right skids, ramps, and four-wheelers. Specialty handling starts at $395 depending on the piece, the stair count, and the distance, and it is built into the binding written estimate so there is no curbside surprise the morning of.
Do you store our things if the closing dates do not line up?
We do. It happens often around here, especially with Florida snowbird closings and Disney-corridor vacation-home transactions. Top can hold your shipment in short-term climate-controlled storage and then deliver once the new keys are in hand — your goods ride with us the whole stretch, so one company handles it from the first box at the curb in Kissimmee to the last carry at the new place.
Is tipping expected, and what is normal in Central Florida?
Tips are never required and are never built into our price, but most Greater Orlando customers who tip land somewhere around 10 to 20 percent of the labor for a job that went well, split among the crew. A flat amount per mover on a long day is just as common. The crew is grateful either way, and the binding written quote does not change based on what you choose to do.
